Ross Richard "Rylan" Clark-Neal (né Clark, born 25 October 1988), known professionally as Rylan, is an English singer, presenter, television personality and model from Stepney, London who finished in 5th place in Series 9 of The X Factor. He was a part of the Boys category, mentored by Nicole Scherzinger

The X Factor

Rylan auditioned for Series 9 and eventually made it all the way to Judges' houses where Nicole selected him for her Top 3 Boys on the live shows.  His breakdown after being chosen has become one of the most memorable moments in the show's history. While on the show he shared a room with fellow category member James Arthur.

He caused controversy when he made it to the second week of live shows over fellow contestant Carolynne Poole, which angered her mentor, Gary Barlow, so much that he walked out. Barlow later called Rylan a "joke act" and "talentless". Rylan got even first by singing Barlow's song "Back for Good" and then letting him know that there was a cab waiting for him in case he walked out again. Despite landing in the Bottom 2 several more times, Rylan did manage to dazzle the audience with his flashy yet creative performances, which earned him a much devoted fanbase. His 'rivalry' with Gary Barlow also became a talking point of his participation. However, he was eliminated at the quarter-final stage with only his mentor voting to keep him on the show.

Celebrity Big Brother

On the show, Rylan's arch enemies were Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag from the American reality TV show The Hills. As him and popular Italian horse jockey Frankie Dettori had the choice to put the married couple other wise known as "Speidi" into the basement or themselves. They therefore chose Pratt and Montag to go down and from then on hated each other since. It was later revealed that Rylan was spending his Sundays away from the Celebrity Big Brother house so he could rehearse and be ready for the X Factor UK concert tour, which kicked off on January 26, 2013, the day after he had won.

Rylan won Celebrity Big Brother on January 25, 2013. He later became the co-host of Big Brother's Bit on the Side along with Emma Willis and AJ Odudu in May 2013.

Music Career

In the middle of all of his television work, Rylan remained focused on his music career. That focus paid off when he announced on July 30, 2014 that he had signed a deal with the Universal Music Group, joining such artists as Cheryl Cole and will.i.am.

This Morning

Since Series 10 of The X Factor UK, Clark-Neal has provided all the gossip from the show on chat show This Morning. He also acted as a Hub presenter until its removal from the show in 2014. Since late 2015 he has also been credited as the main relief presenter. He has most notably relief presented with Ruth Langsford when co-presenter Eammon Holmes was off for 10 weeks. He has also presented with others including Lorraine Kelly and Holly Willoughby.

The Xtra Factor Live

He co-hosted spin-off show The Xtra Factor Live alongside Matt Edmondson for the show's 13th series.  The spin-off show was cancelled in early 2017.
