|Birth Date||10 November 1982|
Ruth Lorenzo Pascual, better known as Ruth Lorenzo, is a Spanish singer who was a finalist in Series 5 of The X Factor. She was part of the Over 25s category mentored by Dannii Minogue and finished in 5th place.
The X FactorEdit
In 2008, she auditioned singing "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", impressing all four judges with her powerful vocals. She continued to impress throughout bootcamp and made it to Judges' Houses where Dannii Minogue selected her as her Top 3 in the Over 25s category for the live shows.
In Week 2 she found herself in the Bottom 2 alongside Girlband and was saved by two of the four judges after delivering a memorable performance of Prince's "Purple Rain". The vote was deadlocked and the result of the public vote saw her safely through to the following week.
In Week 5, she again faced the final showdown alongside Laura White and was saved by three of the judges voting in her favour. Her victory was overshadowed by Laura White's departure as she had been seen as a favourite to win.
She made it to the quarter-finals where she was the last remaining act in her category and as there was no final showdown, she was eliminated as she had the fewest public votes, thus finishing in 5th place.
Post The X FactorEdit
In February and March 2009, she joined her fellow finalists on the X Factor Live tour and a couple of months later she confirmed that she had signed a deal with Virgin Records. The following year it was announced that she had written material for mentor Dannii Minogue's comeback album but she eventually parted ways with Virgin due to "creative differences".
Between 2011 and 2013, she decided to release material as an independent artist and formed the band "The Raspberry Pattern". At the end of 2013, she signed a new record deal with Spanish company Roster Music.
In early 2014, she announced plans to release her debut album "Planeta Azul" and she was selected to represent her home country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with her song "Dancing in the Rain". She finished in 10th place in the final. Her debut album was released in October 2014 and reached #3 on the Spanish album charts.
In 2015, she re-issued the album as well as making an appearance on TV talent show "Levántate". In January 2016, she won the Spanish version of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" with 47% of the televote.
