Two days after the final, it was announced that he had signed a deal with Sony BMG to release a debut swing album. The album was released on 12 March 2007, the same day as fellow finalist Ben Mills debut album, and went on to enter the UK charts at #1 and Ray made history as both the youngest male solo artist as well as the first-ever artist to have a solo chart topper without releasing a single.
