Time on The X-FactorEdit

Cardle auditioned in London with the Amy Whinehouse song, "You Know I'm No Good." He got all three yesses and proceeded on to Bootcamp. He was put into the over 25s category and he sang "The First Time." Later, after Nicole Scherzinger changed "over 25s" to "over 28s" he was put into the boys category. He was put through to judges houses where he and the rest of the boys flew to Australlia to find out their mentor was Dannii.

He was in Dannii's top three due to his version of Beynce's "If I were A Boy." He then became the fan-favourite to win after Cher Lloyd delievered a less then stellar peformance.

Matt sang "When Love Takes Over" by David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland for the first live show and he was saved from the sing-off. He narrowly won the public vote but was beaten out by Mary Byrne

On the second live show, (with the theme musical heroes) Matt sang "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. He was again safe and through. He received the highest amount of votes and therefore won the public vote

He sang "Hit me baby one more time" by Britney Spears for his third week "Guilty Pleasures" theme. He survived the sing-off once again. Like the previous week Matt received the highest amount of votes

In the Halloween themed week he sang "Bleeding Love" by previousX Factor UK winner Leona Lewis and survived the sing-off. He managed to win the public vote for the third week running despite heavy comeptition from Cher Lloyd, who's preformance of Stay earned her critical acclaim from the judges.

In the American Anthems week Matt chose to sing "The First Time I Ever Saw Youe Face" & surived the sing-off. He won the public vote for the fourth week running.

In the Elton John themed week Matt sang "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and made it through the sing-off again and also winning the public vote for the fifth week in a row.

In the Beatles themed week Matt was chosen to sing first which is a great honnor on The X Factor. He chose to sing "Come Together" and made it through the sing-off and won the public vote for the sixth consecutive time.

In the Rock week a lot of pressure was placed on Matt. Not only was threre a Double-Elimination but after the sing-off between Paije Richardson & Cher Lloyd Matt was the only remaining act in Dannii's catagory. He chose to sing "I Love Rock & Roll" & "Nights in White Stain". He made it through to Final 5 & won the public vote for the seventh time.

The theme for week nine was Club Classics & Songs to Get Me To The Final. Matt chose to sing "You Got The Love" & "She's Always A Woman" and won the public vote for the eighth time. He is now in the running to win.

For the Four-Way Vote challenge Matt chose to sing "Here With Me" & later paired up with Rhianna to sing "Unfaithful". Matt won the public vote for the nineth conceutive time and made it to Final 3 with Cher Lloyd coming in 4th place.

For the Three-Way Vote challenge Matt chose to sing "Torn" and once again won the the public vote for the tenth time and made it to Final 2 with One Direction finishing in third place.

For the final challenge Matt chose to sing " When We Collide" which would be released as the winner's single if he won the public vote. This was concidered tough to do as he was up against Rebecca Ferguson who had a really good voice. However he was the bookies favorite to win so that must have taken some pressure off his shoulders. He won the public vote for the eleventh time & won The X Factor 2010

Post X Factor UKEdit

After he had won the show, Cardle signed a deal with Syco Music in a joint venture with Columbia Records, making him the first X Factor winner not to be signed exclusively to Simon Cowell's record company, and released his first single, "When We Collide", after he had won. The single hit number 1 on the UK singles chart.

Letters (2011-present)Edit
