She impressed all three judges during her audition and successfully made it to judges' houses as part of the Over 25s category mentored by Sharon Osbourne. She was selected as a Top 3 finalist for the live shows but was eliminated in Week 3 along with Dionne Mitchell.

After her elimination, her career failed to take off again. In September 2010, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer and underwent chemotherapy. However, she succumbed to the disease on 4 January aged 37. Around 400 people attended her funeral.
- She finished as runner-up to represent the UK at the 1997 Eurovision Contest in Dublin. The winners Katrina & The Waves went on to win the Contest.
