Jedward are an Irish singing and presenting duo consisting of identical twin brothers John and Edward Grimes. They auditioned for Series 6 of The X Factor and finished in 6th place overall. They were part of the Groups category mentored by Louis Walsh.

Twin brothers John and Edward were born in Dublin, Ireland on 16 October 1991. They have an older brother. Throughout their youth they were constantly bullied due to their love of pop music.

The X FactorEdit

The brothers auditioned singing "As Long As You Love Me" by Backstreet Boys. Despite being branded "annoying" by Simon Cowell, they made it all the way to Judges' houses where they were selected by Louis Walsh to advance to the live shows.

Here, they became known for their unpolished but enthusiastic performances, including a very memorable performance of Britney Spears' "Oops... I Did It Again" where they re-enacted the monologue from "Titanic" that features in the music video. Throughout their time in the live shows they faced fierce criticism from the public, leading Louis Walsh to say that they had been edited to look like villains. Even Simon Cowell soon warmed to them saying that they knew how to entertain.

In Week 5, they found themselves in the Bottom 2 alongside Lucie Jones but were saved by the public vote when the judges' vote went to deadlock.

They found themselves in the same position two weeks later alongside Olly Murs and only their mentor voted to save them. However, voting statistics released after the end of the series showed that if the vote had gone to deadlock they would have been saved.

Post The X FactorEdit

Following their exit, they signed to Modest Management and Louis Walsh took on the role of their manager. To date they have released three studio albums, all of which have gone platinum in their homeland and in 2011 and 2012 they were selected to represent their home country at the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in 8th place and 19th place in the final respectively. Their 2011 result remains the country's best result of the decade and best finish since the 2000 Contest.

In 2012, they assisted Caroline Flack with presenting The Xtra Factor during the auditions stage due to Olly Murs being on tour in the US with One Direction.
