District3 were an all-male British pop group who had competed on Series 9 of The X Factor as part of the Groups category mentored by Louis Walsh. They finished in 7th place after ending up in the Bottom 2 alongside fellow category act Union J.
The X FactorEdit
Originally called GMD3, the group, which consists of Dan Ferrari-Lane, Micky Parsons, and Greg West, auditioned for the show in London, impressing the judges with their renditions of "I'll Make You Love Me" and "Can't Hurry Love".
At judges' homes, Walsh's guest advisor, former X Factor UK judge Sharon Osbourne, admitted that she didn't like the group's name, resulting in them changing it to District 3. Despite building a strong fanbase, the group were eliminated on November 11, 2012 with Walsh refusing to cast a vote because he simply didn't want to eliminate either them or the other group in his catagory, Union J, who were also in the bottom 2.
Post The X FactorEdit
On 18 August 2013, District3 released their self-titled debut EP, consisting of seven songs. However, just seven weeks later, the band announced that they had disbanded. In a statement on their official Twitter, they said "It's impossible to express our appreciation to you in one message, but 3EEKS, all around the world, you have been more than everything we could ever have asked for. The support you have given us has been overwhelming, which only makes it harder to tell you that we have decided to bring our time as District3 to an end."
