Amelia Lily Oliver (born October 16, 1994) is an English pop singer from Nunthrope, Middlesbourgh who finished in 3rd place on Series 8 of The X Factor, mentored in the Girls category by Kelly Rowland.

The X Factor

She blew everyone away on her first audition, being compared to singers Christina Aguilera and Pixie Lott, getting 4 yes's at bootcamp. She continued to impress both the judges and the public with her performances of such songs such as Firework by Katy Perry.

She was selected to go through to Judges Houses and from there on to the live shows.  However, in the first week she got knocked out of the competition by her mentor Rowland after doing the Michael Jackson classic Billie Jean but later returned in week 6 with an amazing performance singing Queen's song The Show Must Go On after Frankie Cocozza was forced to withdraw by the producers.

The following week she sang Think and the next week smashed it singing China in Your Hand and her favorite song, the Kelly Clarkson hit Since U Been Gone. The next week Louis Walsh said she was the best of the night when she sang You Keep Me Hangin On and I'm With You. But the next week at the Final's she got elimineted after Gary Barlow said she shouted through her songs after she sang Ain't No Other Man by Christina Aguilera and with her mentor Kelly Rowland after she sang the Tina Turner classic River Deep Mountain High. She ended up finishing in 3rd place behind runner-up Marcus Collins and winners Little Mix.

Performances

Post The X Factor UK

Since her time on the show, Amelia signed a 3-album deal with British production duo Xenomania, best known for producing hits for girl group Girls Aloud. Her first single, "You Bring Me Joy", was released on August 26, 2012 and charted at #2 on the UK Charts. However, due to the poor performance of her follow up singles, the release of her debut album was cancelled.

In 2013, she supported both Girls Aloud on their farewell Greatest Hits tour and later supported Olly Murs. The following year, after parting ways with Xenomania, she released a new song on the Warner Music label called "California".

Since late 2014, she has appeared on the UK stage tours of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, replacing Marcus Collins, and Green Day's American Idiot stage show playing Whatshername.
