Alexandra Imelda Ceclia Ewen Burke (born August 25, 1988) is an English R&B/pop singer-songwriter, dancer and model who won Series 5 of The X Factor, mentored in the Girls category by Cheryl Cole.

The X Factor

Alexandra first auditioned for the show in Series 2 and made it all the way to Judges' Houses where she was in the 16-24s category mentored by Louis Walsh.  However, he did select her for the live shows as he felt that she was too good and needed to mature.

She returned three years later and wowed the judges with her audition.  She again made it all the way to Judges Houses where she was placed in the Girls category mentored by Cheryl Cole.  She subsequently went on to win the series, beating JLS and Eoghan Quigg in the final.

Her debut single "Hallelujah" became the UK Christmas #1 and went on to become the biggest-selling winner's single until it was replaced in 2015 by Series 9 winner James Arthur's winner's single.

Post The X Factor

Burke's debut album, Overcome, was released on October 19, 2009, spawning such hit singles such as "Bad Boys", "Broken Heels" and "All Night Long". Burke's second album, Heartbreak on Hold, was released on June 4, 2012. Burke has also been a guest judge on The X Factor UK. She later left Syco Music for RCA Records, but she left that label in 2013. Burke, who has also released three EPs, is currently at work on her third album, which is expected to be released sometime in 2014. Burke also hopes to release music in the United States. She recently recorded her version of the Paul McCartney classic "Live and Let Die" for The X Factor USA as the intro song for the judges and made her American debut at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York as part of the line-up for the Apollo Theater Legends Hall of Fame 2013.

Burke is now portraying the role of Rachel Marron in the UK touring production of The Bodyguard
