Alex & Sierra are an American indie folk-pop duo from Orlando, Florida who won the final season of The X Factor USA. They are the first and only group to win the American show and were a part of the Groups catagory, mentored by Simon Cowell.

The duo consists of Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton.

Alex & Sierra met in 2009 on a Florida beach and have been dating for a little over two years. They have been performing together for a while as well and have posted videos of themselves singing cover songs like "I Knew You Were Trouble" by Taylor Swift and "If I Didn't Know Better" by The Civil Wars on YouTube. They even auditioned for season 12 of American Idol. Alex made it to Hollywood, but producers said no to Sierra.

Both were students at the University of Central Florida when they decided to try out for the show. Sierra has since graduated.

the Britney Spears song "Toxic". The performance earned them four yeses. They made it to the next round with Simon Cowell as their mentor.

After making it to the live shows, Alex & Sierra showed what they really could do, putting their own spin on such songs as "Best Song Ever" by One Direction, "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke, and their breakthrough performance of "Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera. They frequently recevied praise for their originality and uniqueness, and two of the songs they performed on the show, "Say Something" and "Gravity" by Sara Barellies, both hit number 1 on iTunes, making Alex & Sierra the first X Factor contestants to ever acheive that feat.

The couple won the show on December 19, 2013. They are the first and only group to win the American show and the third overall in the X Factor franchise's history after the Australian R&B group Random (in 2005) and the British girl group Little Mix (in 2011).

Post X Factor USA

In one of their post-show interviews, Alex & Sierra said that they plan to get to work on their first album as quickly as possible. They later revealed via a picture they posted on Instagram that they have been signed to Columbia Records. They have been writing songs with some big names in the music industry such as John Legend, Jason Mraz, and One Direction's Harry Styles. The couple hope to have the album out sometime in 2014. Their first single, "Scarecrow", will be released in summer 2014.
